Here's when you can find out everything you need to know about what kind of programs are coming up at the library. As always, all programs require registration unless otherwise noted.

                       
 

 

Currently, we offer three reocurring programs for teens. Click on the program's name for more information.
 
           

Gaming Nights
Get ready for some gaming fun! We'll be gaming with PlayStation 2 games. Refreshments will be served because after all, gaming is hard work. Board games will also be available for teens going into grades 6-12. Teens must attend two programs before coming to gaming night. Talk to Katie or Susie if you have questions. Registration is required.
SingStar: Thursday, September 18th from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Guitar Hero: Thursday, November 13th from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

 

Books with Bite @ your library!
October 12-18. Stop by Melrose Park Public Library during Teen Read Week to indulge your biting curiosity and check out books and graphic novels on animals, technology, cooking and even vampires! Stop by today and pick up a page turner that you can read or listen to just for the fun of it!
October 12th through October 18th

 

Supernatural
Love vampires? Werewolves? Demons? Well, maybe not but we know you enjoy reading about them! Come on over to the library as we celebrate Teen Read Week's "Books with Bite" theme by talking about the creatures of the night. Drawing, listening to music, and talking all about those spine-chilling creatures await teens in grades 6-12. Registration is required.
Tuesday, October 14th from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

 

Teen Cooking
You voted and the library listened. The teens will be learning how to make some delicious treats just in time for Teen Read Week. This program is for teens in grades 6th – 12th and registration is absolutely required. (We need to know how many ingredients to buy.)
Thursday, October 16th from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

 

"Twilight" Movie Release Mini-Party
Join us as we gear up for the "Twilight" movie's release on November 21st. We'll be catching up on all of the interviews and news about the "Twilight" movie and actors just so you'll be ready for the opening night. This program is for teens in grades 6th-12th and registration is required.
Thursday, November 20th from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

 


 

Tween Book Discussion Group
Have you ever wanted to get together and discuss your favorite books? Well, now's your chance! We'll be discussing books together and also getting a jump start on ideas for summer reading. Bring a copy of your book, your ideas, and come join us for a lot of fun. This program is for tweens and teen in 3rd through 6th grade and registration is required.
Monday, September 22nd from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Monday, October 20th from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

 

Explore Henna Art
Have you ever wanted to try something new? Come join us for an amazing Henna tattoo program at the library! Henna (also called Mehndi) is a traditional Asian and Middle Eastern body art tradition used to create intricate designs on your skin. (Henna is not permanent and washes off in about two weeks.) This program is for tweens in grades 4th-8th. Signed permission slips and registration are required for this program.

Teen Book Club is a monthly book discussion group. There are two different kinds of TBC here at Melrose Park. We alternate between a themed book club and a book club where teens receive their own copies of the same book. This program is for teens in 6th through 12th grade. Registration is required.

For September's book club, we're reading "New Moon" by Stephenie Meyer. There are still some books left to pick up. Call today to reserve one!

Get Graphic is a monthly group devoted to comics, manga, and anime. We'll be discussing what you've been reading, getting a sneak peek at what the library's been ordering, drawing, eating, and watching some anime. Grades 6th through 12th are invited to come and registration is required.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a bi-monthly (every other month) program that allows teens to give their feedback to the library. Together, TAB members, Katie, and Susie will work together to make changes in the library. The goal of this group is to make the library more teen friendly. Teen Advisory Board is for teens in grade 6th-12th. Registration is required.
 
Teen Advisory Board is also part of our volunteer program. Teens participating on the board will earn one volunteer hour for every meeting that they attend. For more information, visit our
